SECY-07-0024 - System Energy Resources, Inc. (Early Site Permit for Grand Gulf)

The Commission⁽¹⁾ approved an Order asking for comments on the Board's Initial Decision (Authorizing the Issuance of the Grand Gulf Early Site Permit) in support of the Commission's review. The Order directs the NRC Staff and the applicant, System Energy Resources, Inc., to respond to three specific issues raised in the Board's order and to submit any other comments they deem pertinent to the Commission's review within ten days.

(Subsequently, on February 15, 2007, the Secretary signed the Memorandum and Order.)

1. Section 201 of the Energy Reorganization Act, 42 U.S.C. Section 5841, provides that action of the Commission shall be determined by a "majority vote of the members present." Chairman Klein and Commissioners McGaffigan, Merrifield, and Lyons were present in the Conference Room. Commissioner Jaczko participated in the meeting via speakerphone.
