Monday, January 12

Tuesday, January 13

  • Congressman Yarmuth addresses the media regarding upcoming legislation at Louisville International Airport.
  • The111th Congress kicks off its first full legislative week, and Congressman Yarmuth returns to Washington, where the House will consider legislation to expand SCHIP legislation to insure millions of children, as well as a bill to increase oversight and accountability of last year’s emergency economic recovery package.
  • Democratic Caucus meets to discuss weekly legislative business.
  • 5:35 PM: Terry Meiners will do his weekly check-in with Congressman Yarmuth on 84 WHAS.
  • Legislation for the day includes: H.Res. 41, Supporting the goals and ideals of National Mentoring Month 2009; a resolution recognizing the efforts of those who serve their communities on Martin Luther King Day and promoting the holiday as a day of national service; and H.Res. 15, Authorizing and directing the Committee on the Judiciary to inquire whether the House should impeach G. Thomas Porteous, a judge of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana.


Wednesday, January 14  

  • Representatives of the Mayo Clinic will visit.
  • The day’s legislation includes H.Res. 40, requiring each standing committee to hold periodic hearings on the topic of waste, fraud, abuse, or mismanagement in Government programs which that committee may authorize.
  • The day’s key legislation is the Children’s Health Insurance Program Reauthorization Act of 2009.


Thursday, January 15

  • Congressman Yarmuth will join Majority Whip James Clyburn for their weekly meeting.
  • The House will consider H.R. 384, TARP Reform and Accountability Act.


Friday, January 16
