Calling on All Offices of Minority Health
OMH invites State and local governments and offices of minority health to organize events to bring due attention to the importance of preconception health and preconception care for healthy pregnancies and the prevention of infant mortality. Sign Up to Organize an Event.
From April to September
In Minority Health Month April 2009, let's launch an arrow of awareness about the high rates of infant mortality in African American communities and the importance of preconception health and care in its prevention. That arrow will reach its target in September for National Infant Mortality Awareness Month.
What You Can Do
- Organize awareness events: chats, health fairs, house parties.
- Distribute materials in the waiting rooms of every government agency, library, etc.
- Get commitments from primary care physicians and other health providers to talk about preconception health to all their patients every Friday for the next six months.
Check back often for new materials and updates. Call 1-800-444-6472 or email info@omhrc.gov for more information.
