Science and Technology
Home to Research Triangle
Park (RTP) and the Triangle’s prominent
research universities, the Fourth District boasts one of the most
vibrant and fastest-growing science and technology sectors in the
country. Our local businesses and universities are at the global
forefront of scientific research and development, producing innovative
technologies that improve our daily lives and bring the world closer
together.
I understand the importance of federal support to our research universities,
to the business community, and to the economy as a whole, and I have
worked tirelessly to maintain robust funding levels for our nation’s
research and development agencies. As a member of the House
Appropriations Committee, I have championed increased funding for scientific agencies
such as the National Science Foundation (NSF), the Environmental
Protection Agency, and the National Institutes of Health (NIH). I
am also a member of both the Congressional Research and Development
Caucus and the Congressional Science, Technology, Engineering and
Math (STEM) Education Caucus.
