FACTA Free File Disclosures Proposed Rule, Matter No. R411005 This rule is long in coming. Creditors pay these reporting companies to post their reports. We as consumers pay through the nose in interest payments and should never have to pay for our credit report. With identity theft at an all time high, we need our credit report on a regular basis to keep ourselves informed of what creditors and theives are doing to us. Let the creditors pay more from the HIGH INTEREST they charge, to the credit reporting firms. The charges these reporting firms charge the consumer is outragous. If you are on a buget and are trying to get out of debt or figure out what the creditors are reporting, we as consumers are handicapped by the high cost. I personally think we, as consumers should be able to get a free report every 6 months upon request and the creditors be charged more for the services they require from the reporting firms. Fees [including state and federal] and high interest are breaking the back of the average consumer. We are paying more and getting less. It has got to stop somewhere. This is a good place to start.
