From: NATHAN T WEBBER [timwebber@prodigy.net] Sent: Sunday, March 25, 2001 11:18 AM To: fdadockets@oc.fda.gov Subject: Docket 00N-1396 & Docket 00D-1598 I am writing to support more restriction on genetically engineered products. There needs to be more consumer approval, and there needs to be more consumer information when these products are distributed. As a consumer, I personally want to see a label on the shelf, in the store that tells me "Genetically Engineered." I would like this to be even more clear than the Surgeon General's warning on tobacco products. I am concerned that these products may be a health risk for humans, or at the very least, have lower nutritional value. I am also concerned that there is such free-flow between the members of the FDA committees and the companies they are purported to regulate. This conflict of interest needs to be regulated more clearly. I would suggest no one be allowed to be on a committee who has worked for one of these companies in private industry for the 5 years before their hire date. Thank you. -- Tim Webber
