I strongly urge the FDA to require the labeling of Genetically-Engineered foods. The public wants this assurance. This action will make a GE food provider carefully consider whether the food they are selling is safe for human consumption. With current regulations, even 'health food' suppliers can use marginally-tested GE foods without the public's awareness.
As an alternative, the FDA should provide labs and funding to allow non-GE food providers to certify that they are not using GE ingredients. This certification would then allow the provider to label a product as 'Non-GE'. This is a minimum level of protection for consumers, who have concerns about GE testing standards.
