Comments for FDA General
Questions
1. General Comments As an American consumer, I beleive I have the right to know from what exactly the food that I consume is made. I believe that genitically engineered foods and ingredients should be labeled as such, so that I have a choice as to what I consume. There appears to be overwhelming support for the labeling of genetically engineered food and ingredients among American consumers; however, the latest FDA proposal concerning bioengineered foods appears to ignore the consumers preferences for labelling and mandatory and more stringent testing proceedures and appears to predominantly support the biotechnology industries whose primary concerns are their own bottom lines (profits) as opposed to the health and concerns of the consumers. Mandatory labelling and testing and segregation of genetically engineered crops is required in other countries, demonstrating that it can be done. As an American consumer, I expect nothing less than the same stringent requirements when it comes to my health and well being. Thank you for your time and consideration of this matter. Sincerely, Franki J. Jewell
