The FDA SHOULD NOT weaken labeling regulations for irradiated foods. Serious questions exist concerning the safety of irradiation, including the possibility that it destroys vitamins in foods, creates toxins--like benzene, which is a carcinogen--of which the long-term effects of consumption are unknown, produces radioactive waste, exposes workers to radiation and increases the likelihood for environmental accidents. I believe that only clear, non-misleading labels are appropriate for irradiated foods, including prominent posters or signage displayed with products that have no packaging. Thank you. Sincerely, Sarah Jameson
