News! AWWA ACE08 -- Team Sets Another High Bar
The Global Environmental Team, with funding assistance from the
Asia Pacific Team, successfully completed its second year
commitments to the American Water Works Association (AWWA)under
the Memorandum of Agreement signed last year by the AWWA
Executive Director Jack Hoffbuhr and the Director General of the
U.S. Commercial Service Mr. Israel Hernandez.
The Global Environmental Team organized and delivered several
high-level client service programs at this year's Annual
Conference and Exposition (ACE) held June 8-12, 2008 in Atlanta,
GA. The Team delivered 156 counseling sessions to 94 different
ACE exhibitors and attendees via the Show Time program, organized
386 meetings between 89 U.S. clients and 26 foreign buyers via
the Matchmaker program, and published 15 U.S. exhibitors in the
online exporters directory. Further, the Team organized and
delivered two business seminars. On Sunday, June 8 long-time Team
member Ellen Bohon from MAS, and George Tracy, director of the
Atlanta USEAC, presented a session on the global market for
environmental technologies. On Monday, June 9, Mr. Francisco
Ceron of CS Mexico City moderated a seminar on Mexico's Water
Industry to an audience of nearly 70. Four high ranking Mexican
water authorities and private sector executives delivered
presentations on current and upcoming projects in Mexico's water
sector. Finally, the week was capped off with a Team
training session, where Team members heard about the current
state of the water sector from AWWA's Director of Communications
and Marketing Mr. Jon Runge. Also, Mr. Mark Stephenson of PAX
Water Technologies informed the Team of the realities of
developing and marketing new technologies to the global water
sector.
In addition, nine overseas offices participated in the event, bringing with them 86 foreign buying delegates to the show. Present at this year's show were staff members from Korea, Thailand, China, The Philippines, Singapore, Mexico, Belgium, Bulgaria and Romania.
This trade show marks the second time this year that the Global Environmental Team has included other teams in its programs, pioneering true cross-team collaboration. Further, as the AWWA is the largest and oldest water trade association in North America, the Global Environmental Team looks forward to future involvement with this important strategic partner to ensure the highest level of client service to this important environmental sector.
