- These data come from the Estimates of the Population of the U.S. and States by Single Year of Age and Sex: July 1, 1991.
- The entry rate is the percent of children entering care out of the total number of children served.
- The exit rate is the percent of children exiting care out of the total number of children served.
- The prevalence rate is the percent of children served out of the 1994 U.S. Census estimate of the number of children under 21.
- The reunification rate is the percent of children with a substitute care outcome of reunification, out of the total number of children leaving care.
- The adoption rate is the percent of children with a substitute care outcome of adoption out of the total number of children leaving care.
- The emancipation rate is the percent of children with a substitute care outcome of emancipation out of the total number of children leaving care.
- The runaway rate is the percent of children with a substitute care outcome of runaway out of the total number of children leaving care.
