Tsongas to Hold Foreclosure Prevention Workshop; Urges Families Worried About or Facing Foreclosure to Attend

WASHINGTON, DC – March 14, 2008 – Congresswoman Niki Tsongas announced today that she will holding a foreclosure prevention workshop for families in the Fifth Congressional District who are worried about the possibility of losing their homes as a result of the recent housing crisis.  The workshop will take place on Saturday, March 29th from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Lowell High School.

Housing councilors and experts from credit unions, banks, MassHousing, the Department of Housing and Urban Development, and several local nonprofit housing organizations will all participate in the workshop to provide on-one-one counseling and other assistance for families who are worried about or are experiencing foreclosure.

"The housing crisis we are experiencing has had a devastating affect on far too many of our households, families, friends, and neighbors," said Congresswoman Tsongas.  "I am hosting this workshop so that those who are concerned about a looming foreclosure or who are currently in the foreclosure process can access the resources and assistance that can help them remain in their homes."

Individuals wishing to participate in the Fifth District foreclosure prevention workshop should plan to bring all relevant mortgage information and proof of income, and can RSVP by contacting Tsongas' Lowell office at 978-459-0101.
