3.1 Director. The Director oversees all of the activities of the Minerals Management Service (MMS). The Director establishes and maintains necessary communication channels with the Congress, the States, Indian tribes and allottee associations, industry, the environmental community, and other government agencies. The Director is assisted in carrying out these duties by a Deputy Director, who serves also as the MMS' Chief Financial Officer and chairs the Information Resources Management Review Council.
3.2 Office of Communications. The Office of Communications serves as the MMS primary point of contact with Congress, the press and news media, external constituencies, and the general public. The Office works to ensure a consistent message and dissemination of information, both internally and externally, that is timely, clear, and factual.
