The 2009 National Leadership Summit on Eliminating Racial and Ethnic Disparities in Health is built around the five core NPA objectives, which are:
- Increased awareness of health disparities;
- Strengthened leadership at all levels;
- Improved patient-provider communication;
- Improved cultural and linguistic competency; and
- Improved coordination and utilization of research and evaluation outcomes.

The OMH 2009 Summit is open to a wide range of audience members from across the health disparities policy, program and research community, including State Offices of Minority Health program staff, health care professionals, community partners, project staff, civic leaders, advocates and federal staff.
