With plenty of sunshine and few clouds, it was a great day to be outdoors.
And not a bad day to do some painting!
That's exactly what Congressman Joe Donnelly, his staff, and supporters did Sunday afternoon in South Bend.
Congressman and crew helped the Stokes family paint their home on the 1100-block of North Kaley Street.
The group started the work a few months back under the Rebuilding Together project, but couldn't finish the painting due to inclement weather.
The family says they're grateful for the help from so many.
“We are just very excited. We think it's a very good program, and we just feel blessed we were chosen for our house to be painted,” said Gary Stokes.
“It's a voluntary program that organizations get together, very much community based, everybody pitching in. Voluntary -- it's not a government funded program. This is just everybody in town trying to get together and help,” explained Donnelly.
Local union members also had a hand in finishing Sunday’s house painting project.
