With the country's recent economic struggles, the federal government has made several moves to try and help out. Congressman Joe Donnelly visited 16 Morning News today to talk about some of the plans the government has implemented.
Some of the plans include lowering interest rates, increasing loan limits for homeowners, and giving more options to people looking for loans.
Donnelly also talked about the economic stimulus checks that are about to head out and how they're going to give a boost to the economy.
"We think that will give a big boost to the economy,” said Rep. Donnelly, (D) Indiana’s 2nd District. “Everybody has to file a tax return to be eligible, but then the checks start coming in the middle of may, and we expect that'll kick in about 150 billion dollars extra into the economy, and as that works its way through, we're thinking that will help smooth things out and get us moving again this summer and fall."
As Congressman Donnelly said, be sure to keep an eye on your mailboxes, as the checks are going to start arriving in the middle of May.
