NTSB BOARD MEETING LOOKS AT  1998 AIRLINER EVACUATION AT SAN JUAN, PUERTO RICO



The National Transportation Safety Board will hold a Board Meeting Tuesday, November 16, 1999 at 9:30 a.m., in the Board Room of its Headquarters building, 490 L'Enfant Plaza, S.W., Washington, D.C.  Item to be discussed:

The Safety Board will look at the emergency landing and evacuation of an American Airline flight with originated in San Juan, Puerto Rico experienced an engine fire shortly after take off and return to the  airport for an emergency landing.

There were 253 passengers and nine crew members aboard the carrier.  Only minor injuries were sustained.
