FATAL GRADE CROSSING COLLISION INVOLVING COMMUTER TRAIN IN INDIANA TO BE SUBJECT OF NTSB MEETING JULY 21

The National Transportation Safety Board holds a public Board meeting Wednesday, July 21, at 9:30 a.m., at its headquarters building, 490 L’Enfant Plaza, S.W., Washington, D.C., 5th floor meeting room.

One item is on the agenda:

The June 18, 1998 collision between a Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation District (NICTD) two-car passenger train with a flatbed semitrailer loaded with steel coils. Three people on the train were killed.

The meeting room is lighted for television, and has an audio mult box.

***Note: Major reconstruction has begun at L’Enfant Plaza that has disrupted normal traffic patterns outside the building. This might affect television trucks that usually park on the plaza, but should not affect pedestrian traffic or those who park in the garage.***
