MIAMI AND NEW YORK ACCIDENTS TO BE DISCUSSED AT NTSB MEETING


The National Transportation Safety Board will hold a public Board meeting on Wednesday, May 30, 2007, at 9:30 a.m., in its Board Room and Conference Center, 429 L'Enfant Plaza, S.W., Washington, DC.

There are two items on the meeting agenda:

  1. Aircraft Accident Report -- Chalk's Ocean Airways, Grumman G-73T.
    On December 19, 2005, a Grumman Turbo Mallard (G-73T) amphibious airplane, on a regularly scheduled passenger flight to Bimini, Bahamas, experienced an in-flight separation of its right wing from the fuselage and crashed into the shipping channel adjacent to the Port of Miami shortly after takeoff. Two flight crewmembers and 18 passengers on board were killed; the airplane was destroyed by impact forces.

  2. Marine Accident Report - New Delhi Express.
    On April 15, 2006, the container ship New Delhi Express struck a submerged ledge near buoy 14 in the New York Harbor and took on water through a hull breach caused by the impact. Aboard the accident vessel was a master, two pilots, 21 crewmembers, and three passengers. Two of the three tugs assisting the vessel were also damaged. There were no injuries. Damage to the New Delhi was estimated at $1.5 million.
