NTSB NAMES PARTIES TO THE INVESTIGATION OF WATER TAXI ACCIDENT IN BALTIMORE, MARYLAND


Washington, D.C. - Immediately following the capsizing of a water-taxi, the Lady D, in Baltimore's Inner Harbor on Saturday, March 6, 2004, National Transportation Safety Board Chairman Ellen Engleman Conners launched a Go Team to the site of the accident to conduct the on-scene phase of the investigation. The Safety Board is leading the investigation and receiving assistance from several parties.

The National Transportation Safety Board's Investigator-In- Charge, Bill Woody, has designated the following parties to the investigation of the Lady D capsizing in Baltimore Harbor: the U.S. Coast Guard; Living Classrooms Foundation (owner of the Lady D); and the City of Baltimore Fire Department.

According to 49.CFR.831.11, "Parties shall be limited to those persons, government agencies, companies, and associations whose employees, functions, activities, or products were involved in the accident or incident and who can provide suitable qualified technical personnel activity to assist in the investigation."
