NTSB SENDING TEAM TO INVESTIGATE I-95 TANKER TRUCK ACCIDENT NEAR BALTIMORE


The National Transportation Safety Board is dispatching a team of investigators to the scene of a fatal tanker truck crash this afternoon on Interstate 95 near Baltimore, Maryland.

NTSB Chairman Ellen Engleman Conners announced that Mr. Kenneth Suydam will lead a 7-member team of investigators from the Safety Board. The first members of the team will arrive at the accident site later this afternoon.

The NTSB investigates major transportation accidents in the United States in all modes. The Board issues safety recommendations when appropriate to prevent future accidents.

Information on the progress of the investigation will be released by the Safety Board's Public Affairs Office in Washington, D.C.
