NTSB MEMBER JOHN GOGLIA RECEIVES HONORS FOR SAFETY EFFORTS

Washington D.C. - National Transportation Safety Member John J. Goglia was recently recognized for outstanding contributions to transportation safety with two industry publication awards.

In June, Business and Commercial Aviation presented Mr. Goglia with a Vision Award in recognition of his efforts in promoting safety in business aviation. The group noted that Goglia's "refreshing openness and maintenance savvy on the National Transportation Safety Board" have served to improve the course of the industry and that because of his " insight, and determination business aviation was made stronger in the year 2000."

This month Mr. Goglia also received the Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO) Safety Award jointly sponsored by Overhaul and Maintenance (O&M) magazine and its parent organization Aviation Week. The MRO Awards honor individuals within the aviation/aerospace industry, in both the commercial and government/military sectors, who have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to safety.

Mr. Goglia is being recognized for his passion on the subject of safety, in general, and as it relates to aviation maintenance in particular.

John Goglia is an internationally recognized expert in aviation maintenance and aircraft operations. First sworn in as a Member of the U. S. National Transportation Safety Board in August 1995, he was reconfirmed as a Member in May 2000.

He is the first working A&P mechanic to serve on the Safety Board, with over thirty years of aviation experience. Member Goglia's term expires on December 31, 2003.
