NTSB TO HOLD MEETING ON THE COLLISION OF TWO METRORAIL TRAINS IN WASHINGTON, DC
Washington, D.C. -- The National Transportation Safety Board will hold a public Board Meeting on Thursday, March 23, at 9:30 a.m., in its Board Room and Conference Center, 429 L'Enfant Plaza, S.W., Washington, DC.
One item is on the agenda:
On November 3, 2004, two Washington Metropolitan Area
Transit Authority Metrorail trains collided at an
underground station. Train 703, a non-revenue train, rolled
backwards about 2,246 feet and struck train 105, a revenue
train that was in the process of discharging and loading
passengers. The non-revenue train was traveling
approximately 35 mph when the accident occurred. There were
no fatalities. About 20 people went to the hospital and
property damages were $3 million.
