NTSB MEETING TO REVIEW REPORTS ON BEECH KING AIR CRASH IN VIRGINIA, AND HIGHWAY ACCIDENTS IN PENNSYLVANIA AND NEW JERSEY


The National Transportation Safety Board will hold a public Board meeting on Tuesday, February 7, at 9:30 a.m., in its Board Room and Conference Center, 429 L'Enfant Plaza, S.W., Washington, DC.

There are three items on the agenda:

Aviation Accident Report - On October 24, 2004 a Beech King Air 200 operated by Hendrick Motorsports, Inc. collided with mountainous terrain in Stuart, Virginia during a missed approach to Martinsville/Blue Ridge Airport, Martinsville, Virginia. Two crewmembers and eight passengers were killed in the crash. Media Contact: Terry Williams (202) 314-6100

Highway Accident Report -- On April 11, 2003, in the Borough of Glen Rock, Pennsylvania, a 1995 Ford dump truck was traveling southbound on Church Street, a two-lane road on a steep downgrade, when the driver was unable to stop the truck. The truck struck four passenger cars that were stopped at an intersection. As a result of the accident, the driver and an 11-year-old occupant of one of the passenger cars received fatal injuries. Highway Accident Report -- On May 1, 2003 at 2:11 a.m. an off-duty police officer traveling south on US Route 1 in Linden, New Jersey, lost control of his vehicle, crossed over a 6-inch median and struck a northbound Ford Taurus. The drivers of both vehicles and all four passengers in the Ford Taurus were killed in the crash. Safety issuesexamined in the report include alcohol impairment, speed enforcement, and median barrier installation. Media Contact: Lauren Peduzzi (202) 314-6100
