NTSB RELEASES INFORMATION ON WATER TAXI CAPSIZING IN BALTIMORE'S INNER HARBOR


Washington, D.C. -- The National Transportation Safety Board will open a public docket and release factual reports on the capsizing of the Lady D, a water taxi, in Baltimore's Inner Harbor in March 2004. The public docket will be opened on Friday, October 7, 2005, at 11:00 a.m.

On March 6, 2004, the enclosed pontoon water taxi encountered a developing storm with high winds and capsized. The Lady D was carrying 23 passengers and two crewmembers. Five passengers were killed in the accident.

The information being released is factual in nature and does not provide any analysis. It includes investigative group factual reports, photos, interview transcripts, and other documents from the investigation. Additional material will be added to the docket as it becomes available. Analysis of the accident, along with conclusions and a determination of probable cause, will be published in the final report when the investigation is completed.
