NTSB SENDS TEAM TO ASSIST IN HELICOPTER ACCIDENT IN ESTONIA

The National Transportation Safety Board is dispatching a team of investigators to assist the Aircraft Accident Investigation Department of Estonia in the investigation of a helicopter that crashed in the Baltic Sea off the coast of Tallinn, Estonia today.

The four-member team will be headed by Lorenda Ward, the U.S. accredited Representative named in accordance with the procedures of the International Civil Aviation Organization. She will be joined by NTSB specialists in operations and engineering, an investigator from Federal Aviation Administration and the aircraft manufacturer.

This is the third time in a week that the NTSB has sent investigators to assist in a foreign investigation. Last week, the Board sent teams to participate in the investigations of the Airbus 340 crash in Canada and the helicopter crash in Sudan that claimed the life of the First Vice President.

The accident investigation authorities of Estonia will release all information on the progress of the investigation.
