LABELLE SELECTED TO HEAD NTSB OFFICE IN ALASKA


The National Transportation Safety Board has announced the selection of Jim LaBelle as director of the Board's regional aviation office in Anchorage, Alaska.

Mr. LaBelle is a senior NTSB air safety investigator who has been working in the Alaska office for the last ten years. For the past year, he has been acting director of the office.

Mr. LaBelle started his career with the Safety Board in 1987 as an air safety investigator in Alaska, and was promoted to supervisory air safety investigator in the North Central Regional Office in Chicago in 1990. He returned to the Alaska office as field chief in 1995.

Mr. LaBelle has investigated over 600 accidents during his nearly 19 years with the NTSB. Prior to coming to the Safety Board, he was an air safety investigator for an engine manufacturer, and a professional pilot with over 5,000 hours of flight experience.
