Truck/Bus Safety

The Safety Board is hosting a hearing to review the conditions and causes of truck/bus related crashes and evaluate the effectiveness of Federal, State, and industry oversight of truck and bus safety. The following questions will be considered:

What are the characteristics of truck/bus accidents?
What is the nature of the truck/bus industry today?
What is the current oversight of truck/bus operations, including descriptions of the oversight performed by the carriers, the States, and the Federal government? How effective are these programs? (Do the programs address accident causation?)
What should the oversight be?
