NTSB BOARD MEETING LOOKS AT THE 2000 ALASKA AIRLINES FLIGHT 261 ACCIDENT NEAR PORT HUENEME, CALIFORNIA


Washington, D.C. -- The National Transportation Safety Board will hold a Board Meeting Tuesday, December 10, 2002 at 9:30 a.m., at its Board Room and Conference Center, 429 L’Enfant Plaza, S.W., Washington, D.C. Item to be discussed:

The Safety Board will consider the final report of its investigation into the January 31, 2000 Alaska Airlines accident near Port Hueneme, California. Alaska Airlines flight 216 was in route from Puerto Vallarta, Mexico to Seattle, Washington with a stop planned for San Francisco, California. All 83 passengers and five crewmembers aboard the MD-80 died when the aircraft crashed into the Pacific Ocean.

The Safety Board will provide a simultaneous audio-only webcast. An archived audio/video version will be available after the meeting. A mult-box is provided for sound. This room is lighted for television.

Directions to Board Room: Front door located on Lower 10th Street, directly below L’Enfant Plaza. From Metro, exit L’Enfant Plaza station at 9th and D Streets escalator, walk through shopping mall, at CVS store take escalator down one level. Board Room will be to your left.
