NTSB SENDS INVESTIGATORS TO TAIWAN TO ASSIST IN CHINA AIR 747 INVESTIGATION
Safety Board investigator Greg Phillips is leading the team as the U.S. Accredited Representative. Phillips and four other NTSB investigators have been joined by investigators from the Federal Aviation Administration and Boeing Commercial Airplanes Group.
This is the third team of investigators the NTSB has dispatched to Asia in the last 6 weeks; the others went to Korea and China. In addition, last month the Safety Board sent a team to Tunisia to assist that government in its investigation of the crash of an EgyptAir Boeing 737, and a team to El Salvador to assist in the investigation of damage sustained by a DC-10 cargo plane on takeoff from the airport in San Salvador. Early this month, an NTSB investigator was sent to Nigeria to assist that governments investigation of the crash of a BAC 1-11 on takeoff.
Information on the progress of the China Air investigation will be released by the authorities in Taiwan.
