ASSISTANT PROFESSOR, PSYCHIATRY AND BEHAVIORAL SCIENCES – Stanford University School of Medicine

The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the Stanford University School of Medicine is currently seeking a full-time, non-tenured faculty at the Assistant Professor level in the Medical Center Line. The major criteria for appointment, reappointment and promotion for faculty in the MCL shall be excellence in the overall mix of clinical care, clinical teaching, scholarly activity that advances clinical medicine, and institutional service. The chosen candidate must have an MD degree (or equivalent) and be board eligible in Psychiatry.

The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the Stanford University School of Medicine is currently seeking a full-time, non-tenured faculty at the Assistant Professor level in the Medical Center Line. The major criteria for appointment, reappointment and promotion for faculty in the MCL shall be excellence in the overall mix of clinical care, clinical teaching, scholarly activity that advances clinical medicine, and institutional service. The chosen candidate must have an MD degree (or equivalent) and be board eligible in Psychiatry. The focus of this position will be clinical research, patient care, and teaching in the area of mood disorders. Patient care duties will include outpatient consultation and treatment, inpatient attending care responsibility and possible Electro Convulsive Therapy.

This position will focus on either treatment and research in patients with bipolar disorder or treatment and research in the area of major depression.

Applicants with an interest in comorbid substance abuse and affective disorders are particularly encouraged to apply.

Other research areas of interest include: psychopharmacology, brain imaging, pharmacogenetics, comorbid substance abuse, emotion processing, epidemiology and psychoendocrinology. Individuals with fellowship training in mood disorders preferred.
