REGISTRATION STILL OPEN FOR JANUARY 2009 NTSB MARINE SAFETY COURSE
Late registration is still available for the National
Transportation Safety Board's Accident Investigation for
Marine Professionals (MS 101), scheduled for January 26-30,
2009, at the NTSB Training Center in Ashburn, Virginia (near
Washington, D.C.). While nearly 100 individuals
representing U.S. and foreign government agencies, maritime
associations, and a variety of marine industry sectors have
already registered for the course, there are still a limited
number of seats available for this program.
The weeklong course, targeted at mid- to senior-level marine industry professionals, covers the Safety Board's processes and procedures during a major marine accident; reviews human factors, medical factors, and electronic data elements in a marine investigation; offers best practices for comprehensive and thorough interviewing techniques; and shares report preparation processes and procedures.
The course will be led by senior NTSB investigators who will use examples from recent NTSB investigations to demonstrate particular aspects of the investigative process. The U.S. Coast Guard will offer a session on its investigation process and the IMO Casualty Code.
A more complete description of the course, the registration process and the cost may be found at the NTSB Training Center Web site at: http://www.ntsb.gov/Academy/CourseInfo/MS101_2009.htm
