I am a 51-year-old woman on bio-identical hormone replacement therapy, and I am asking the FDA to dismiss this complaint. Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, makers of Premarin and Prempro, filed it because the availability of bio-identical hormones diminishes their sales. Their complaint is unethical and self-serving. The only "flagrant violation" is their attempt to take away a woman's access to safe, natural hormones, leaving her no alternative but their drugs. My mother had no alternative, took the drugs, and died of breast cancer. So when my menopausal symptoms became so intense that they disrupted my daily living, I read the book, NATURAL HORMONE BALANCE FOR WOMEN by Dr. Uzzi Reiss to learn about bio-identicals. Then I found a doctor who specializes in natural hormone replacement. I have been taking these natural hormones now for 6 months and I feel wonderful with no side effects and no worries about what a drug may be doing to me. If my choice in this is retracted, I will go back to feeling lousy and living a compromised quality of life rather than take the drugs they call "hormones." Please, FDA, protect me and millions of women like me from the greed of the drug company that filed this "citizen's complaint." They are not looking out for us citizens. I implore you to continue to allow us access to real hormones. Do not send us backwards to the days when my mother had no alternative. Thank you.
