Did you know...

There have been a total of 6 Article III judges in Wyoming's history?
The Honorable Alan Riner was the first judge, followed by T. Blake Kennedy and Ewing T. Kerr, for whom the Casper Courthouse is named. Current Judges Clarence A. Brimmer, Alan B. Johnson and William F. Downes round out Wyoming's judges. The Riner Bible is still used to this day to swear in new judges, and Judge Kennedy's safe can be seen in the Cheyenne Clerk's Office. There is a display of Judge Kerr's memorabilia in Cheyenne as well. You can find more information on the history or our Court by visiting the Tenth Circuit Judicial Circuit Historical Society's web site.

Wyoming was home to a U.S. Supreme Court Justice?
The Honorable Willis Van Devanter was appointed to the land's highest court from Cheyenne in 1910 and served until 1937. You can read more about his term at The Supreme Court Historical Society's web site.
