Salazar Appointment Good News For Sportsmen and Women

(WASHINGTON, DC) - Sportsmen and women across the country met the appointment of Colorado Senator Ken Salazar as the next Secretary of the United States Department of the Interior with open arms yesterday.

"Senator Salazar has been a lifelong friend to sportsmen and we look forward to his continuing efforts to ensure that the sportsmen's legacy is upheld by effective conservation of public lands and his support of hunters and fishermen access to public lands," said CSF President Jeff Crane.

Senator Astle Awarded Rowse Award For Outstanding Accomplishments

(CLINTON, SC) - Maryland State Senator John Astle, a passionate activist for hunting and fishing issues in his home state of Maryland and around the country, has been named as only the third ever recipient of the Brad Rowse Leadership Award.Sen. Astle Recieves Award

The Brad Rowse Leadership Award is given in honor of the former State Caucus Manager of the National Assembly of Sportsmen's Caucuses who, as a rising star in the sportsmen and conservation community, passed away at age 26 in December 2004.

 

NASC Elects New Executive Council At Sportsman-Legislator Summit

(CLINTON, SC) - Legislators and industry leaders left the summit armed with ideas designed to protect and enhance their constituents hunting, fishing and conservation opportunities. Members of the legislative caucus also elected new leadership for 2009.

Pennsylvania Passes Conservation Elk Tag Legislation

(HARRISBURG, PA) - Legislation allowing conservation organizaitons to auction off elk licenses to generate funds for the state GameElk Tag Legislation Commission has passed the Pennsylvania General Assembly and is now waiting the expected signature of Governor Rendell.

Authored and introduced by Pennsylvania State Sportsmen's Caucus Co-Chair, state Rep. Marc Gergely and supported by the Pennsylvania Sportsmen's Caucus, the legislation (H.B. 747) will allow the Pennsylvania Game Commission to offer a special elk conservation hunting tag through an auction every year in which the proceeds would go toward improving elk habitats in the Commonwealth.
