Mission Statement

The Eastern/Woodlands Office of Native American Programs has as its Mission that our staff members work in partnership with each other, tribes, and Indian housing authorities in order to provide and improve the delivery of our programs to Native American reservation communities.

The current programs that are administered by the Office of Native American Programs are not available to urban Indians. More than one-half of the American Indian population does not live on a reservation. While we are unable to provide funding, we do provide information and limited technical assistance to urban Indian communities in our service area.
