Congressional
Internship
Congressman McNerney welcomes you to apply for a Congressional
Internship in one of his offices.
The Congressional Internship Program is an excellent
opportunity to learn about the federal government and
public policy issues while gaining practical office
experience. Internships are available in both of the
Congressman’s district offices, as well as in
the Washington, D.C. office.
In the Washington, D.C. office, responsibilities include
conducting legislative research, giving tours of the
Capitol, responding to constituent inquiries, helping
process tour and flag requests, opening and routing
incoming mail, data entry, and performing general office
duties.
The responsibilities of interns in the district offices
include researching the many constituent inquiries
for information concerning federal agencies and assisting
staff with specific case work. General office duties
are also expected.
Unfortunately, we cannot offer paid positions. However,
we are happy to assist students requesting school credit.
If you are interested in applying for an internship
in one of Congressman McNerney’s offices,
please mail or fax your cover letter and resume accordingly.
