National Native HIV/AIDS Awareness Day (March 20) PSA

60 second transcript

I'm Robert McSwain, Acting Director of the Indian Health Service. March 20th is National Native HIV/AIDS Awareness Day. Today, HIV is affecting thousands of American Indians, Alaska Natives, and Native Hawaiians. National Native HIV/AIDS Awareness Day -- the beginning of Spring-- is an opportunity to talk about HIV and the impact it’s having on our community. Many people with HIV are not aware of their status, so they may be infecting others, and not accessing treatment which could help them. Together we can help our Native communities, by talking about HIV, attending community events, and encouraging HIV testing. Please, join me and our friends, family members, and partners, in the fight against HIV/AIDS. Protect our future! Protect our people! Celebrate life!
