I am proud to serve on the House Science and Technology Committee and the Subcommittee on Technology and Innovation. Originally established in the wake of the Russian launch of Sputnik in 1957, the Committee was primarily focused on space exploration. In 1959, the Committee became the first new permanent committee in the House of Representatives since 1892 and since then, its jurisdiction has grown to include almost all non-defense federal scientific research and development.

I understand that research and technology is a key component to the future of Ohio’s economy. Additionally, investing in scientific advancement will play an integral role in sustaining the competitiveness of the United States in the global market.
