ARCURI TO PRESENT LOCAL VETERAN WITH WWII HONORS

Washington, DC -- U.S Representative Michael A. Arcuri (D-Utica) will present World War II veteran John Maciol with numerous medals for his service in the Philippines, at 10am on Monday, November 12th at the Radisson Hotel in Utica.

“Veterans Day is a time to honor our veterans and pay respect to our troops serving so valiantly around the world,” said Arcuri. “This Veterans Day I am proud to honor a man who served his county with the utmost honor and valor. In Congress, we have passed landmark legislation to provide for the unique needs of our nation’s veterans and service members. I will continue to makes sure this country provides the very best for the brave men and women who have put their lives in danger to protect our freedoms.”

John Maciol served as a Marine Corporal expert rifleman in the southwest region of the Philippines from 1943 to 1946 during World War II. Arcuri will present him with service medals and ribbons including the World War II Victory Metal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Metal, Navy Unit Accommodation Ribbon, and the Philippine Liberation ribbon Foreign Award.

The Mayor of New York Mills, Robert Maciol will also speak.
