Chief, Dental Consult Services (Staff Clinician)

The Clinical Research Core (CRC), Division of Intramural Research (DIR), National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research, is seeking applicants for Chief of Dental Consult Services (CDCS).  The CRC aims to advance oral and systemic health utilizing the translation of basic science discoveries to clinical applications.  The CDCS is a full-time, Staff Clinician position that provides oral evaluation and care to consult patients at the Clinical Center, National Institutes of Health.  The CDCS will coordinate and facilitate the delivery of treatment and other consultative services in the Dental Clinic, interacting closely with primary care givers and other members of the medical team and triaging patient treatment needs.  The unique Clinical Center patient population (e.g., primary immunodeficiencies, blood dyscrasias, syndromic and genetic conditions, infectious diseases, cancer therapy) requires the CDCS to be knowledgeable of systemic biology, complex oral lesions, and oral manifestations of systemic conditions.  The CDCS may serve as associate investigator in clinical protocols sponsored by NIDCR and other Institute Centers, guide the development of clinical protocols, and provide mentorship to Clinical Research Fellows on clinical research methodologies.

Applicants must have a DDS or DMD degree and U.S. or Canadian licensure and be board eligible/certified.  Preference will be given to candidates who have completed the oral medicine, oral pathology, or oral & maxillofacial radiology residency, and had research experience.  Salary will be commensurate with training credentials and research/clinical experience.
