Environmental Impact StatementNUREG-1437, "Generic Environmental Impact Statement for License Renewal of Nuclear Plants Regarding Indian Point Nuclear Generating Unit Nos. 2 and 3 (NUREG-1437, Supplement 38) Draft Report for Comment," was published in December 2008. This supplement documents the NRC staff's review of the environmental issues at Indian Point Nuclear Generating Unit Nos. 2 and 3, regarding the Entergy application for license renewal of that facility. The supplement was prepared in accordance with 10 CFR 51.71. This supplemental environmental impact statement includes the Staff's analysis that considers and weighs the environmental effects of the proposed action (license renewal), the environmental impacts of alternatives to the proposed action, and potential mitigative measures for reducing or avoiding adverse impacts. It also includes the Staff's preliminary recommendation regarding the proposed action. Public InvolvementThe public is encouraged to participate in the reactor license renewal process through public meetings, and public comment periods on rules, renewal guidance, and other documents. The Reactor License Renewal Public Involvement page provides general information to help the public participate.
