Forest Supervisor Tyrone Kelley is pleased to welcome Tom Hudson to the Six Rivers National Forest as the new District Ranger for the Mad River Ranger District. "Tom comes to the Forest with over 20 years of experience in natural resources management and fire suppression," said Kelley. His most recent position was in charge of timber sale administration for the Pike and San Isabel National Forests for the Rocky Mountain Region in Colorado.

Tom graduated from Treasure Valley Community College in the Forest Management Program and then went on to complete the Fire Management Program at Colorado State University. He began his government career in 1985 working on the marking crew and fighting fires on the Payette National Forest in Idaho. In 1991, he detailed to the Ochoco National Forest for a year as a sale administrator for a timber fire salvage operation. He then transferred to the Tongass National Forest in southeast Alaska until he took a detail to the Tahoe National Forest in 1995 on another fire salvage recovery. It was then off to the Mark Twain National Forest in Missouri where he worked as the Timber Management Assistant and Assistant Fire Management Officer. From there he went to Colorado on the Pike and San Isabel National Forest in charge of timber sale administration. Tom also served with the Rocky Mountain Type II Fire Team as a Safety Officer.

Tom is very excited about his new assignment as District Ranger. "I look forward to working with the community and district employees. My primary focus will center on safety and resource managment," said Tom. Tom and his wife Glenna are very happy to be here
