According to Forest Supervisor Jeff Walter, "The road system in the Six Rivers National Forest has sustained significant damage from the series of storms that passed through the area in the past few weeks. Forest users are advised to use extreme caution when entering the forest as many roads are covered by landslides and downed trees."

Some primary forest roads have failed including Waterman Ridge Road (Route 4) in the Lower Trinity Ranger District, and Bluff Creek Road (10N12), Leary Creek Road (10N02), Rogers Creek Road (12N52), Rock Shanty Road (13N13) and Offield Mountain Road (15N17) in the Orleans Ranger District. These roads are expected to remain closed indefinitely. Many other roads covered by landslide and downed trees, particularly on the Lower Trinity and Orleans Ranger Districts, will remain impassable through the winter. In general, landslides are still active and trees rendered unstable from saturated soils and high winds will remain hazardous throughout the winter.

According to Walter, "Surveys of damage and current conditions are ongoing. The condition of Forest Service roads will be updated as these surveys are completed". Visitors are advised to contact the nearest Forest Service Office for current conditions before entering forest lands.
