Severe burns, amputations, blindness, and in some cases, deaths are often the result of 4th of July celebrations. To help make this year a more enjoyable holiday here are some safety tips from the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection:
- USE ONLY SAFE AND SANE FIREWORKS
NOTE: - The use or possession of fireworks, even the "safe and sane" types, is not allowed on National Forest system lands. - ALWAYS HAVE AN ADULT PRESENT
- ALWAYS READ DIRECTIONS ON PACKAGE
- NEVER USE FIREWORKS NEAR DRY GRASS OR OTHER FLAMABLE MATERIALS
- HAVE A BUCKET OF WATER AND A HOSE HANDY
- NEVER EXPERIMENT WITH OR MODIFY FIREWORKS
- NEVER POINT OR THROW FIREWORKS AT ANOTHER PERSON
- NEVER ATTEMPT TO RE-LIGHT OR “FIX” FIREWORKS
- FIREWORKS ARE NOT A TOY
PARENTS ARE LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGE OR INJURIES CAUSED BY THEIR CHILDREN USING FIREWORKS!!
