Severe burns, amputations, blindness, and in some cases, deaths are often the result of 4th of July celebrations. To help make this year a more enjoyable holiday here are some safety tips from the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection:

  • USE ONLY SAFE AND SANE FIREWORKS
NOTE: - The use or possession of fireworks, even the "safe and sane" types, is not allowed on National Forest system lands.
  • ALWAYS HAVE AN ADULT PRESENT
  • ALWAYS READ DIRECTIONS ON PACKAGE
  • NEVER USE FIREWORKS NEAR DRY GRASS OR OTHER FLAMABLE MATERIALS
  • HAVE A BUCKET OF WATER AND A HOSE HANDY
  • NEVER EXPERIMENT WITH OR MODIFY FIREWORKS
  • NEVER POINT OR THROW FIREWORKS AT ANOTHER PERSON
  • NEVER ATTEMPT TO RE-LIGHT OR “FIX” FIREWORKS
  • FIREWORKS ARE NOT A TOY

PARENTS ARE LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGE OR INJURIES CAUSED BY THEIR CHILDREN USING FIREWORKS!!
