Evaluation Results
Merck-Medco distributed 1 million "My Medicines" brochures to their mail order customers and conducted an independent national evaluation of the value of this information. The brochures contained a medicine tracking chart and safety tips. To this end, Merck-Medco:
- Evaluated customer satisfaction by sending 50,000 franked postcards to their customers. Of these recipients approximately 5,000 responded (both men and women).
- Asked their customers to rate the "My Medicines" brochure as well as the need for this type of general information.
Findings
Both men and women overwhelmingly indicated that they wanted this type of information. For all 8 questions the combined approval ratings were as follows:
- 97.51 % approval rating from men
- 99.13% approval rating from women (our target population)
- 98.61% approval rating from all consumers
"Call to Action"
- 76.55% of the survey respondents indicated that they had listed their prescription medicines on the card provided in the brochure.
- 86.11% of the respondents indicated an intention to speak with their physician or pharmacist about their medication.
Other Comments
- Approximately 200 people wrote-in comments on the postcard. Of these, 90% were positive and included statements like "convenient list, glad to have it in my purse for emergencies, I will keep mine near the telephone, I've been looking for this a long time, and thank you for caring."
- Negative comments (10% of the total) indicated that "they didn't need the information", "already keep a list" or the information was "simplistic."
