Pelosi Statement on National Day of Prayer
Washington, D.C. –Speaker Nancy Pelosi released the following statement today celebrating the National Day of Prayer:
“Today, on this National Day of Prayer, all of us from our different faiths and traditions pause to thank God for our blessings. We turn to God through prayer, seeking wisdom in our efforts to build a better nation and world.
“Today, in every church, in every synagogue, in every mosque, and in every temple around our great nation, men and women of goodwill are praying for peace, freedom, and the fulfillment of God’s mercy.
“In its call to action, the Gospel of John says: 'Dear children, let us love not in word or speech, but in deed and in truth.' Today, let us commit that our prayers will also turn into action – acting out God’s love for all people, traditions, and faiths of the world.
“My prayer today is that God's spirit and grace will illuminate the earth so that freedom and peace may ring in the United States and throughout the world.”
