The number of Americans without health insurance increased by 1.4 millionin 2003, reaching a total of 45 million–the largest number of uninsured ever recorded. That is an atrocious number and even those with health insurance now tell me that they do not feel secure with our current health system. They are worried about losing their coverage, being denied coverage for care they need, or not being able to afford drugs or other services not covered by their insurance. And,this country needs to reconsider how we deal with drug companies so Americans aren’t asked to continue to pay more than our fair share for drug development.
