UNITED STATES OF AMERICA ***** AFFIRMATION SESSION *** PUBLIC MEETING ***
Dale E. Klein, Chairman, presiding.
DISCLAIMER This is an unofficial transcript of a meeting of the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission on November 20, 2007 in the Commission's office at One White Flint North, Rockville, Maryland. The meeting was open to public attendance and observation. This transcript has not been reviewed, corrected or edited, and it may contain inaccuracies. The transcript is intended solely for general information purposes. As provided by 10 CFR 9.103, it is not part of the formal or informal record of decision of the matters discussed. Expressions of opinion in this transcript do not necessarily reflect final determination or beliefs. No pleading or other paper may be filed with the Commission in any proceeding as the result of, or addressed to, any statement or argument contained herein, except as the Commission may authorize. [9:05 a.m.] P R O C E E D I N G S CHAIRMAN KLEIN: Madam Secretary, I believe we have an affirmation today. Would you proceed? ANNETTE VIETTI-COOK: This is on Dominion Nuclear North Anna Early Site Permit for North Anna. The Commission is being asked to act on a Memorandum and Order responding to the issues and questions raised by the Commission in CLI-07-23 related to the issuance of an Early Site Permit for North Anna. The Commission has voted to approve a Memorandum and Order which approves issuance of the Early Site Permit. Commissioner Jaczko, dissenting in part, would have required the staff to supplement its environmental justice analysis prior to issuance of the North Anna Early Site Permit. Would you please affirm your votes? CHAIRMAN KLEIN: Aye. COMMISSIONER JACZKO: Aye. COMMISSIONER LYONS: Aye. ANNETTE VIETTI-COOK: That’s all I have. CHAIRMAN KLEIN: Any comments: COMMISSIONER JACZKO: If I could just say, I mean I think this is now the last of the original Early Site Permits that we had before the Commission and I think certainly it’s a credit to the staff for having moved through these and generally on the goals and schedules that the Commission had established. So I think it’s certainly a testament that we can do these things, do a good thorough job, and get them completed and I think that they deserve a lot of credit for the work that they did. CHAIRMAN KLEIN: And I think probably the next one will be more specific. Thank you. Meeting adjourned. CERTIFICATE This is to certify that the attached description of a meeting of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission entitled: TITLE OF MEETING: Affirmation Session (PUBLIC MEETING) PLACE OF MEETING: Rockville, Maryland DATE OF MEETING: November 20, 2007 was held as herein appears, is a true and accurate record of the meeting, and that this is the original transcript thereof taken stenographically by me, thereafter reduced to typewriting by me or under the direction of the court reporting company.
