P R O C E E D I N G S

CHAIRMAN MESERVE: Before we get started with our program this morning there is one piece of business that the Commission needs to handle. This is an affirmation session. Madame Secretary, will you proceed?

MS. VIETTI-COOK:The Commission has voted to approve the publication and implementation of a final rule to revise the skin dose limit in 10 CFR Part 20. The final rule changes the definition and method of calculating shallow-dose equivalents by specifying that the assigned shallow-dose equivalent must be the dose averaged over the 10 contiguous square centimeters of skin receiving the highest exposure, rather than 1 square centimeter as stated in the existing regulation. In addition, the rule change would clarify that the shallow-dose equivalent is the dose limit to the skin of any extremity, as well as the skin of the whole body. Would you please affirm your votes?

CHAIRMAN MESERVE: Aye.

COMMISSIONER DICUS: Aye.

COMMISSIONER DIAZ: Aye.

COMMISSIONER MCGAFFIGAN: Aye.

COMMISSIONER MERRIFIELD: Aye.

MS. VIETTI-COOK: That's all I have.

CHAIRMAN MESERVE: Good. Thank you.
